QX-222 is a quarternary derivative of the local anesthetic Lidocaine. It was shown to block Nav currents and channels in a use dependent manner. The mechanism of block involves intracellular binding site, but some Nav channels facilitate the passage of QX-222 via the open channel. In addition it was shown to inhibit nicotinic ACh receptor channels.
