alpha-Conotoxin GI. A Potent Blocker of a1/b1/d/g nAChR.
alpha-Conotoxin GI is a 13 amino acid peptidyl toxin isolated from the Conus geographus (Geography cone) venom. It belongs to the Conotoxin A superfamily, reversibly blocks alpha/ delta nicotinic ACh channel receptors (nAChR).
alpha-Conotoxin GI reversibly inhibits the high affinity alpha/ delta site on mouse muscle-derived BC3H-1 receptor, a nAChR expressed on postsynaptic membranes.
Other low site (alpha/gamma site) on nicotinic receptors from Torpedo californica electric organ is also inhibited by alpha-Conotoxin GI.
Ion Channel Modulators; Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor Blockers.
