The ORF of human ZNF16 is amplified by PCR using a high fidelity enzyme and sub-cloned into a Prokaryotic expression vector under the control of the tac promoter. The expression of the gene has been confirmed by Western blot using an anti-ZNF16 polyclonal antibody.

This gene is located in a region close to ZNF7/KOX4, a gene also encoding a zinc finger protein, on chromosome 8. Two alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been identified.
