DNA topoisomerase 2-beta (TOP2B) controls topological states of DNA by transient breakage and subsequent rejoining of DNA strands. TOP2B makes double-strand breaks. TOP2B is indirectly involved in vitamin D-coupled transcription regulation via its association with the WINAC comple, Xenopus/Amphibian,, a chromatin-remodeling comple, Xenopus/Amphibian, recruited by vitamin D receptor (VDR), which is required for the ligand-bound VDR-mediated transrepression of the CYP27B1 gene. Eukaryotic topoisomerase I and II can rela, Xenopus/Amphibian, both negative and positive supercoils, whereas prokaryotic enzymes rela, Xenopus/Amphibian, only negative supercoils.
