Interferon Inducible T cell alpha Chemokine (I-TAC), or CXCL11, expressed at high levels in leukocytes, pancreas and liver exposed to IFN alpha , beta, and gamma. I-TAC is one of three chemokines known to bind the receptor CXCR3 (the two others being CXCL9 and CXCL10 (IP-10)) to act as a chemoattractant for IL-2 activated T cells. CXCL11 differs from the other CXCR3 ligands in that it has a higher receptor affinity, thus acts as a stronger agonist. Recombinant I-TAC is a nonglycosylated Protein, containing 73 amino acids, with a molecular weight of 8.3 kDa.
