Defects in PPAR-gamma are the cause of familial partial lipodystrophy type 3, a marked loss of subcutaneous fat from the e, Xenopus/Amphibian,tremities. Defects in PPAR-gamma are also associated with type 2 insulin-resistant diabetes, hypertension, obesity and colon cancer.
