The metabotropic glutamate receptor 7 (mGluR7) is a receptor for L-glutamate. L-glutamate is the major e, Xenopus/Amphibian,citatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system and activates both ionotropic and metabotropic glutamate receptors. Glutamatergic neurotransmission is involved in most aspects of normal brain function and can be perturbed in many neuropathologic conditions. The metabotropic glutamate receptors are a family of G protein-coupled receptors that have been divided into 3 groups on the basis of sequence homology,Porcineutative signal transduction mechanisms, and pharmacologic properties. A member of the Group III receptor class,Mouse,GluR7 inhibits the cyclic AMP cascade. PKC phosphorylation of serine 862 on mGluR7 has been shown to be critical for stabilizing receptor surface e, Xenopus/Amphibian,pression and promoting binding to the synaptic PDZ-domain-containing protein PICK1.
