Levo- alpha -acetylmethadol, also known as Levomethadyl acetate, is a synthetic opioid similar in structure to methadone. Methadone and LAAM are opioid agonists used for analgesia and preventing opiate withdrawal(11). LAAM is a medication therapy for individuals addicted to opiates that provides an alternative to methadone(12).
