KLHL21 (Kelch-like protein 21) protein is part of the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway. It is a substrate-specific adapter of a BCR (BTB-CUL3-RB, Xenopus/Amphibian,1) E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase comple, Xenopus/Amphibian, required for efficient chromosome alignment and cytokinesis. The BCR (KLHL21) E3 ubiquitin ligase comple, Xenopus/Amphibian, regulates localization of the chromosomal passenger comple, Xenopus/Amphibian, (CPC) from chromosomes to the spindle midzone in anaphase and mediates the ubiquitination of AURKB. Ubiquitination of AURKB by BCR(KLHL21) E3 ubiquitin ligase comple, Xenopus/Amphibian, may not lead to its degradation by the proteasome.
