Inhibitor of CAD (ICAD, DNA fragmentation factor 45 kDa subunit, DFF-45 is an inhibitor of the caspase-activated DNase. Caspase-activated deo, Xenopus/Amphibian,yribonuclease (CAD) is also designated as DNA fragmentation factor 40 kDa subunit (DFF-40) and caspase-activated Dnase. CAD is a nuclease that induces DNA fragmentation and chromatin condensation during apoptosis. ICAD is a heterodimer of DFFA and DFFB. Caspase-3 cleaves ICAD at 2 sites to generate an active factor.
