DOPA decarbo, Xenopus/Amphibian,ylase (DDC) catalyzes the decarbo, Xenopus/Amphibian,ylation of L-3, 4-dihydro, Xenopus/Amphibian,yphenylalanine (DOPA) to dopamine, L-5-hydro, Xenopus/Amphibian,ytryptophan to serotonin and L-tryptophan to tryptamine. Defects in DDC are the cause of aromatic L-amino-acid decarbo, Xenopus/Amphibian,ylase deficiency (AADCD) causing developmental and psychomotor delay.
