Lq2. A Potent Blocker of Kir1.1 (ROMK1) Channels
Lq2 was originally isolated from Leiurus quinquestriatus hebraeus scorpion venom. Lq2 is a recombinant peptide expressed in and extracted from E. coli and purified to homogeneity. Lq2 blocks Kir1.1 K+ inward rectifier channels (Ki of 410 nM). In the planar lipid bilayer, it also blocked single KCa channels from rat muscle with intrinsic KD of 43 nM, by introducing brief closures. Lq2 action is on the extracellular side of the pore.
