BIRC5 (Baculoviral IAP repeat-containing protein 5; Apoptosis inhibitor suvivin) is a component of the chromosomal passenger comple, Xenopus/Amphibian, (CPC), a key regulator of mitosis that functions at the centromere to ensure correct chromosome alignment and segregation and is required for chromatin-induced microtubule stabilization and spindle assembly. With RAN, survivin forms a scaffold for mitotic spindle formation to deliver the RAN effector TP, Xenopus/Amphibian,2 to microtubules. Survivin plsys a role in neoplasia. It inhibits caspase-3 and caspase-7, blocking a default induction of apoptosis in G2/M phase. It is e, Xenopus/Amphibian,pressed in fetal kidney, liver, lung, brain, adenocarcinomas, lymphomas, renal cell carcinoma cell lines.
