Artemin is a novel member of the GDNF ligand family. Artemin is the ligand for the FGR-alpha-3-RET receptor comple, Xenopus/Amphibian, but can also activate the FGR-alpha-1-RET receptor comple, Xenopus/Amphibian,. Artemin supports the survival of sensory and sympathetic peripheral neurons in culture and the survival of dopaminergic neurons of the ventral mid-brain.
