5'-AMP-activated protein kinase subunit beta-1 (AMPK beta-1) is the regulatory subunit of 5'-AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). AMPK is responsible for the regulation of fatty acid synthesis by phosphorylation of acetyl-CoA carbo, Xenopus/Amphibian,ylase. AMPK also regulates cholesterol synthesis via phosphorylation and inactivation of hydro, Xenopus/Amphibian,ymethylglutaryl-CoA reductase and hormone-sensitive lipase.
