The 14-3-3 protein activates tyrosine- and tryptophan hydro, Xenopus/Amphibian,ylases in the presence of Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II. This family of proteins mediates transduction by binding to phosphoserine- or phosphothreonine-containing proteins. It is considered to be an adaptor protein being implicated in the regulation of a large number of both general and specialized signaling pathways. Its binding to the partner proteins usually results in the modulation of the activity for the binding partner.
